OTTAWA · OPEN TO A PERMANENT FULL-TIME ROLE

I help teams move from talking about AI to changing what the business can actually do.

I find the right opportunity, build the solution, and help people use it.

Now I want to bring what I learned to the right team, from Ottawa.

MY STORY

The film tells my story. Making it is part of the proof.

This film explains why Ottawa became home. I shaped the story, built the experience, and shipped the result. AI expanded what I could execute. The judgment and responsibility stayed mine.

Why I want to bring that capability to the right team here.

I own the work from a business problem to a solution people use.

I join the team, learn how the work really happens, make the product decisions, build the solution, and stay accountable for real use.

From problem to business result

  1. Find the right opportunity. I learn the workflow with the people doing the work, then choose the problem worth solving.
  2. Build the working solution. I make the product decisions and turn them into a product or workflow that fits the business.
  3. Make it stick. I help people use it, improve it from real work, and measure what changes.

A flexible role. A clear mandate.

I am looking for a permanent, full-time role with an Ottawa-based or Canada-remote team that wants someone who can connect business needs, product decisions, hands-on building, and adoption.

Business outcomes: grow revenue, cut avoidable costs, speed up work, reduce errors, or improve customer service.

The exact title matters less than owning a worthwhile problem until people use the solution and the business can see the result.

Possible role shapes: AI Enablement and Product, Technical Product Manager for AI and automation, or Product Manager for internal tools and business systems.

At AI companies: Forward Deployed Engineer or Applied AI. Book a chat.

I have already made this change in my own work.

Joe Speaking shows the full path: I started with a problem I understood, learned what I needed, built the product, and kept improving it after real users arrived.

The foundation

I did not learn product from AI. AI gave me a new way to apply what I had already learned. Before I built for myself, I learned product in two hard places. Smartisan taught me taste and craft. Meituan taught me scale, operations, and products that had to work in messy real life.

What AI changed: Product judgment came first. AI expanded what I could execute myself.

Meituan: I was the first Product Manager for a custom Android operating system used across more than 1 million restaurant POS terminals. I built remote diagnostics and configuration tools for restaurants, devices, service teams, and field operations. One tool reduced avoidable onsite service visits and saved more than C$200K a year.

Smartisan: A public Smartisan OS review opened the door to my dream company. I grew from intern to Product Manager, contributing to five phone and OS releases and leading three major iterations of HandShaker, an Android management app for macOS. HandShaker is rated 4.67★ on the Mac App Store.

How I work

The part I am proudest of is not speed. It is consistency. I stay curious, make progress visible, and keep learning after the first excitement fades. I work best where trust is mutual and where I can take responsibility for the result, not only the task.

These are public records of how consistently I learn, build, and ship: How I Use AI Tools Personally and My Claude Code Workflow.

The public trail

The work keeps accumulating through GitHub contributions and live AI usage.

Joe Speaking shows how I work from problem to product.

I started with a problem I understood personally, learned unfamiliar technology, and kept improving the product after real users arrived.

  • Product judgment. The hardest part was deciding how a real speaking test should behave: when to ask, listen, wait, follow up, and move on.
  • Reliability in real use. Recordings, feedback, payments, and recovery after a dropped connection all had to work beyond the demo.
  • Ownership from problem to operation. I stayed responsible for what to build, how to test it, and what to improve when real users exposed the gaps.

Based in Ottawa

Open to Ottawa-based or Canada-remote teams.

I am looking for a permanent, full-time role where I can own meaningful work from problem to result.

I am happy to meet local teams in person and work remotely with teams across Canada.

Trust and fit

I am happy to meet in person in Ottawa. Mutual trust matters more to me than a perfect title.

A good fit

  • Useful work with a result we can observe.
  • People closest to the problem are heard.
  • Trust, curiosity, and shared ownership.

Let me join the team and own a problem worth solving.

If work is costing too much, taking too long, limiting growth, or frustrating customers, show me where it happens.

I will learn the operation with the people doing the job, build the right solution, and stay accountable until it is used and the result is visible.
